The successful commissioning of PLAGIS – Plateau State Geographic Information System for Land and cadastre management, took place on Saturday October 9 2010 at the Ministry of Lands and Survey offices in Jos.
The commissioning was honored by the personal participation of President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan, Mr. Jonah David Jang Executive Governor of Plateau State and Mrs. Pauline Kedem Tallen Deputy Governor of Plateau state.
At the ceremony, President Goodluck said that supplying the government with modern information systems will allow it to better manage its resources. The president was then presented with a live demonstration of the system while at its peak, the first Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) was issued to the President by the state government.
PLAGIS is a unit of the Ministry of Land, Survey and Town Planning. One of the goals of this administration was to control urban development by modernizing the processes of lands sale and C of O issuance. President Goodluck described the project as unique project and commended the state government for the initiative.
PLAGIS is based on the GeoERP solution developed by Sivan Design - a leading provider of GIS ERP turnkey solutions. PLAGIS is another successful commissioning of a complete GIS turnkey solution that its scope ranges from establishing the facility via hardware and software installation to complete integration including staff training, support and maintenance whole of which was performed by Sivan Design.
